Celebrity jewelry designer, Maya Brenner, has partnered with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to design a capsule collection that pays homage to the 20th-century architect’s creations.
The collaboration of Maya Brenner x Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation comprises two distinct jewelry collections, Virtues and Racine. The Virtues collection features four unisex necklaces that reflect Wright’s “Organic Commandments,” a set of architectural principles incorporating geometric shapes.
Circle and triangle pendants take inspiration from two of Wright’s designs for Liberty Magazine, known as “Jewelry Shop Window” and “Desert Triangles.” A rectangle pendant was influenced by the “City by the Sea” design, originally a mural in the Midway Gardens in Chicago, while a square necklace derives its motif from one of Wright’s tile design sketches.
The Racine collection, featuring a necklace and a hoop earring, is inspired by skylights. Wright designed the SC Johnson Administration Building in Racine, Wis., where he recreated nature on the interior and delivered on his promise that the office would be like working in a forest with sunlight coming from the diffused glass skylights.
“One of the primary goals of this collaboration is to introduce those who may be unfamiliar with Frank Lloyd Wright to his remarkable architectural and design legacy,” says Brenner. “The opportunity to delve deeper into his life and works was incredibly enriching, and learning about his creative genius and pioneering design principles really opened my eyes to a whole new world of inspiration.”
